Hobby Horse Blog Hop - Week 2

Hobby Horse Blog Hop Prompts - Week 2:

  1. Tell us about a special person you associate with your interest in horses. In what ways did(does) the person support you?
  2. Carousels: Yes or No? Which horse do/did you choose to ride?
  3. What sort of books did you read when growing up?
Okay, here we go:
  1. My godmother, Debbie is the first person I associate with my love of horses.  She and Flame, who was a horsey saint, make up my earliest memories of horses.  Now, it's Mom (the Bionic Cowgirl) and Beel who are my best horse friends.
  2. Carousels - meh.  I'm kind of luke-warm about them.  When I was a kid I didn't care which horse I rode on the carousel, as long as it was a horse.  There was no way I was getting up on any of the other animals.  That just wouldn't be right.
  3. I had two series I read growing up: Trixie Belden and The Black Stallion.  Other books didn't exist.  I still have most of both series, though some have been lost/destroyed in moves and I still enjoy picking them up and flipping through them.
My question: if you could own any horse, who/what would it be?

Any horse? Why more Haflingers! I just love their big personalities!

I laughed at your comment about not riding other animals on the carousel. I felt the same way. Who wants to sit on a chicken, or a tiger?!!

I think it is so neat that your mom is one of your best horse friends. What a neat relationship you have!

Hmmm...if I could own any horse.....I have two Haflingers staring at me as I type this. They might 'know' if I said I wanted anything but them! And actually, at this time, I can't think of a particular horse I'd like to have.

I don't know of Trixie Beldon. Hmm. I'll have to check into that. I love going back to read all the horse books I grew up with. :D

If I could have any horse it would totally be a purebred Friesian or ten of them lol. My absolute favorite breed.

It's pretty obvious Gundiva didn't stand a chance when it came to growing up loving horses - with me for a mom. Her Godmother was a good friend of mine who GAVE her a horse as a birthday gift (very young age). Not knowing anything about actually caring for a horse at that time, we gave it back and asked for riding lessons instead. Worked out darn good!

It's fun having a daughter who can look across the room at you and you both holler "let's ride" at the same time - as you are running for halters!!

Always thought I wanted a black Arab, just like the Black Stallion, but now I'm really hung up on my Mustangs. Can't imagine having any other horse.

Hola - found you though Dreaming...love reading other horse lover's blogs in my part of the country!

Any kind of horse? As a kid it was ANY horse I could get my hands on. I don't know if I can pick a favorite to want to own...I raise and train Quarter Horses, but a good horse is kinda like a good dog...you might have a specific breed in mind, but sometimes the best ones just find you! Like my little Mustang Maggie!
