Getting Dressed

Okay, Estee, we're gonna try a saddle today...

Let's get the bird poop off...

Let's see...yeah, first the saddle pad...

Oof...this saddle business is so foreign...

On three...one...two...

...three...

Wait...these straps...I know I'm supposed to do something with them...

Oh, that's right, we have to tie the saddle on...

Good thing my hands know what to do...thank God for muscle memory...

Whew!  All saddled up!

And I even managed to get in the saddle.

I've got some great pictures from our ride up the Goat Trail today, but those are going to have to wait until I get back from HorseMaster.  It's that time again, time for me to load up and head down to southern Colorado to work as a crew member for Julie Goodnight's TV show.  It's a blast, but I'll be super busy and wireless is spotty down there. As soon as I return from HorseMaster, I head up the hill to the Lodge for the High Country Rendezvous.

Ride safe and hug your horses; I'll see y'all after HCR.

#1 - Wow... you look wow! And I can say that because I totally meant to get in shape like you by this time this year! And now I'm kicking myself, ha!

#2 - why is it that an arab who freaks over a butterfly fart will let birds hang out and poop all over her back?

#3 - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha about figuring out the rigging again. Let me at least giggle with you because you are far better at everything else :)

#4 - Loving Queen Estes' face once she had a rider in the saddle. Take it as a compliment to your bareback seat!

Estee looks sooo unimpressed with the whole idea!

But you're looking good there chicky!!! Keep it up!! EPD is working you well ;)

Safe trip to HorseMaster. And we'll be with y'all in spirit for HCR.

You're so lucky getting to help with Horsemaster! That has to be fun. Do you know what the topics are going to be this year? Enjoy yourself!

I think you need a smaller shirt - that one is totally baggy! Yall look so good together, even with that stupid saddle in the way. ;)

Rach - El Poquito Diablo is literally working my ass off. I have to tell you, after a year and a half of bareback only, the saddle was so weird. It was fun though, and I'll be back in the saddle for a while - Estee's losing weight again and her back's getting rather bony.

Mrs Mom - did you notice the Queen is sticking her tongue out at me? Brat.

Linda - if you live anywhere near where Julie's shooting next year, apply to be a crew member. You learn so much - it's like getting eight free clinics.

Funder - Such kind words. I'm so used to buying a large that it never crossed my mind to buy a medium, which I should have. I'll be trying to shrink both of my new Margaritaville shirts so I can wear them :)

Love that grin of accomplishment, although Estes seems to be giving the whole process the raspberry in that last photo.
It felt good to get back into a saddle on Beamer after a year of riding bareback- he couldn't get away with crap anymore!
