I Need Barn Names!

NaNoWriMo starts in exactly one week and I'm having a hard time with character names. The absolute hardest part of any writing for me is the character names. I have the main character's name, her childrens' names, and half of her best friend's name (first only). My problem: I don't have a name for her potential love interests (the guys she meets speed dating or online) nor do I have names for the horses in the barn. I need barn names! Okay, honestly, I need guy names too, but I'm really stressed out about not having barn names because the horses make an appearance long before the boys do.
Help!

Thanks, Nate. I've got to name one Greeley for the Fort Collins/Greeley word war...we have to fit the phrase "Greeley stinks" in our novel at least once. I figure if I have a flatulent horse named Greeley, I can stick the phrase in many, many times.

So what's wrong with using real horses' names as your barn name; so much easier than trying to make up both names and characters. These guys have their descriptions and characters right out there: Thunder (a couple of them), EMT, Gandolf, Boone & Crockett, Brownie (who hasn't heard of a horse name Brownie?), Paint (everybody has a Paint) - and I can think of at least three Rangers. What a great headstart.

So far: Greeley, Ese (for SFB), Rufus, Big Red, Taco (gotta keep the kids' horse) and Alpo. Kinda like to keep Shotgun, maybe EMT. No Paint - I'm sticking with Rufus for painted horses :) Possibly Roman and Raja since they were two of my favorites. We'll see what actually comes out on paper. The only absolute, definite name is Greeley, for the Greeley/FC word war.

What was Laura's horses name on "Little House on the Prairie"? Bunny? I loved the episode where Nellie fell off of Bunny and pretended she was paralyzed. That probably didn't help you, did it? Sorry.

You're way further with the NaNo thing than me. I have a few characters names and a little bit of a plot. Not enough for 55,000 words, though.

Candance, I've got an *idea* of where I want it to go - it in no way constitutes a plot. It will be an exercise in descriptive writing for me just to boost the word count. Sadly, I still have no name for Shelby's love. How sad is that? I'm more concerned with naming the horses than the man she's supposed to fall in love with. Could be a problem. Guess we'll find out.

Oh, and can I tell you how thrilled I am that the famous blogger lady, CTM, is now following my blog?!

I'll be looking up the horse from Little House. I vaguely remember one, but can't remember the name.
